Donald Eugene Simpson died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2014, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Gloria Simpson. He was 86. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, in the Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Johnson and Rev. John Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeder Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Crestview, Fla. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Campton Assembly of God church at 6924 Highway 85 N, Laurel Hill, FL 32567. Pryor to living in Dothan, Ala. Donald and Agnes lived in the Campton community of Crestview, Fla. for more than 40 years. Donald was born June 4, 1928, in Shawnee, Okla. At age 22, he joined the Air Force where he spent four years in service. In 1954, he began another type of service with the Crestview sheriff's office. After 30 plus years of law enforcement, Donald retired in 1990. Donald is survived by wife, Laura Agnes Simpson; son, Daryl (Gloria) Simpson of Dothan; son, Dennis (Donna) Simpson of Madison, Ala.; grandchildren, Darren Simpson of Birmingham, Ala., Leah Simpson of Dallas, Texas, Kristen Simpson of Auburn, Ala., Laurie Simpson of Auburn, Derrick Simpson of Madison, Ala., Courtney Sellers of Searcy, Ark. and Josh Sellers of Madison, Ala.; sisters, June (Elmer) Meyers of Martinez, Calif. and Pat (Ernie) Clark of Argyle, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Simpson of Peachtree City, Ga.; brother-in-law, Tommy (Doris) Dorsey of Laurel Hill, Fla. Predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law, M.A. and Nancy Dorsey of Laurel Hill; sister Edna (Fred) Lacquement of Wewoka, Okla.; brothers, Wilford (Helen) Simpson of New Braunfels, Texas and Hubert (Delores) Simpson of Tulsa, Okla.; brother-in-law, Gerry Simpson of Peachtree City, Ga.; and sister-in-law, Etta Adams of Laurel Hill.
