Fletcher James "Sonny" Herndon, Jr., 74, passed away on Dec. 17, 2013; he was born March 26, 1939, to Fletcher and Louise Herndon in Apalachicola, Fla. Fletcher, known as Sonny, grew up in Chattahoochee, Fla., and graduated from Chattahoochee High School in 1958.

Sonny served in the U.S. Army and was manager of Eli Witt in Tallahassee, Fla. He later became owner and manager of Panhandle Paper Company in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Sonny was a member of the Tallahassee Rotary Club and a long standing member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He is a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, Fla., and a current member of the Destin Methodist Church.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Nichols Herndon; and his children, Fletcher "Jay" Herndon, Kim Garcia (Reggie) and Amy Fussell (Zach); grandchildren, Margaret Gwynn, Lina Gwynn, Clifton Gwynn and Elizabeth Fussell, all of Tallahassee; and sisters, Annette Batchelor, Ruby Bogart and Mary Atkinson (Stuart).
