Gannon Muldowney, a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died unexpectedly in his sleep in Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 13, 2012, he was 34 years old.
Gannon was born at Yokota Air Base in Japan on June 14, Flag Day, the son of Air Force Lt. Col. Bill Muldowney and Marlene Muldowney. He grew up in Tampa, Fla., and Houston, Texas, where he attended the Academy of the Holy Name and later the John Cooper School in the Woodlands, Texas. Gannon attended college at Arizona State University in Scottsdale, Ariz., and worked in the Scottsdale area for several years before moving to Santa Rosa Beach.
While in College, Gannon was a lifeguard at Myrtle Beach in the summer and always loved swimming, tennis and golf.
He is survived by his father, F. W. (Bill) Muldowney III of Santa Rosa Beach; his mother, Marlene Muldowney of Hilton Head, S.C.; his brother, F. W. Muldowney IV; sister, Liz Muldowney; brother, Leland Muldowney, his nephew, Frankie Muldowney; and niece, Mia Muldowney.
Gannon moved to Santa Rosa Beach in June of 2008 to work in the vacation rental business with his father. He loved the game of golf and played with his father and friends at Eglin Air Force Base, Hurlburt and Fort Walton Beach golf courses. He always loved the beach, swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and playing some beach volleyball.
A celebration of Gannon's life will be held in front of the Whales Tail on old highway 98 on the beach on Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at around 12 p.m. and continuing throughout the afternoon. Family and friends wishing to remember Gannon are welcome to attend.
