George Edward Adams was born on May 6, 1915, in Elk City, Okla., and passed away on Jan. 1, 2014, in Stockbridge, Ga., at the age of 98. He was reared in Marion, La., and graduated from Louisiana State University. George worked for Standard Oil of New Jersey and later served in the United States Navy where he was honorably discharged as a lieutenant. Following his four years in the Navy he worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration and the United States Air Force. He married Mary Jacqueline Gaskins on June 10, 1951, in Atlanta, Ga., and they were married for 62 years. In 1956 George and Jackie moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., where they raised their three children, and for 20 years George worked as a civil service engineer at Eglin Air Force Base, retiring in 1974 with 32 years of federal government service. In 1986 he and Jackie moved to Stockbridge, Ga. George is survived by his wife, Jackie Adams; two daughters, Janice Adams and Jeanne Cuerdon; son, George Adams Jr.; two granddaughters, Marissa and Olivia Adams; and four brothers and two sisters.
