Jim Frazier, 78, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. went to be with the Lord, Aug. 6, 2014, at his home, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Draper, N.C.

Jim retired after serving 21 years in the United States Air Force. He received a Bronze star and four Air Force Accommodation medals while serving two tours in Vietnam. He retired after 21 years of Civil Service, where he was pro golfer/ administrator at Hurlburt Field Golf Course. Jim also retired from Fort Walton Beach Municipal golf course, where he was a pro golfer/administrator.
Jim loved watching sports, loved golf and loved his family and grandchildren. He was a dear husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was always willing to help a person in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Frazier of Fort Walton Beach; son, Rodney (Belinda) Frazier of Baker, Fla.; daughters, Shelia Frazier of Louisville, Ky., Sonya King of Dothan, Ala., Sarita Cope of Orlando, Fla., Gwen Cusimano (Mark) of Destin, Fla.; step-sons, Bobby Carmichael of Fort Walton Beach and Larry (Dawn Johnson) Carmichael of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Kyle King, Chad Peacock, Marissa Cope, Ryan Frazier, Skyler and Austin Cusimano, Mylee Frazier; step-grandchildren Alex, Chad, Ashley Carmichael; brothers, Roy Frazier of Eden, N.C., Ernest Frazier of Mt. Airy, N.C., Virginia (David) Phelps of Concord, N.C.; sister-in-law, Margie Frazier of Eden, N.C.; and a host of other relatives in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Shirley Grey Frazier of Fort Walton Beach; parents, Ed and Ethel Frazier, of North Carolina; sister, Gertrude Fowlkes; and brother, Melvin Frazier of North Carolina.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 403 Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, FL, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be at Beal Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Pastor Jim Ross will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Kyle King, Chad Peacock, Ryan Frazier, Bobby Carmichael, Larry Carmichael, and Lloyd Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Covenant Hospice, in Jim's memory.
