Lt. Col. John Kenneth "Ken" Goolsby, 82, passed away peacefully on Aug. 16, 2014, in Pensacola, Fla. A longtime resident of Navarre, he is survived by his wife, Betsy, of 59 years, children John Goolsby, Jan Zinn, Jill MacGregor and Jeannie O'Connor and sister, Kathy Willis. He was the grandfather to Kristy, Lee, and John Zinn and Sarah and Matthew Goolsby.

Ken was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 7, 1931, and was the son of John and Vivian Goolsby. He has a de-gree from University of Georgia and a Masters from the Univ. of Southern California. He retired as a Lt. Col. and was a fighter pilot in the Air Force. Ken served with honor in the Vietnam War.
He loved the Lord. When Ken was asked what he wanted to do when he retired he replied, "All I want to do is help people." Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be sorely missed. He was a longtime member of Covenant Community Church.
Ken was active in the Habitat for Humanity program, where he helped build numerous homes. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Donations in his name, to the local Habitat for Humanity organiza-tion, can be made in lieu of flowers.
A visitation will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32547, this Monday, Aug. 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (850-864-3361). The funeral service will be held at Covenant Community Church located at 107 Gospel Road, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32548, on Tuesday morn-ing, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m.
