Lloyd Anthony Pye, Jr., 67, of Destin, Fla., passed away at home on Dec. 9, 2013. He was surrounded by friends and family.
Lloyd was a native of Amite, La., and a graduate of Tulane University. He played football at Tulane. He served in the United States Army in intelligence before becoming a writer, researcher and speaker.
Lloyd wrote for television shows in the 1980s such as Scarecrow and Mrs. King and Magnum Pl. By the 1990s Lloyd was becoming a well-known speaker and writer in the field of alternative knowledge. Lloyd published several books about his days in college football and his research into alternative scientific theories about human origins and hominoids.
Lloyd made many appearances on international radio and television shows including the History Channel, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Channel detailing his life's work.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd A. Pye, Sr., and a brother, James Daniel. He is survived by his mother, Nina; brothers, Thomas and Jonathan; his sister, Susan; and scores of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lloyd's life was a constant adventure taking him throughout the world to countless places. Lloyd will be remembered for his love, spirit, intellect, wit and passion.
Lloyd will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a memorial service held at 3 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 20, at Blythewood Plantation in Amite, La.
