The Lord called his son Nelson Lewis Barbour home on July 16, 2014. Nelson was born July 23, 1929, in Spotsylvania County, Va., to the late Newitt Henry and Florence Lee Payne Barbour.
Nelson met his wife, Anna Sue, while stationed at Eglin Air Force base. They married in 1947, and eventually retired in the area in which they first met. Nelson was a decorated veteran, serving in the Navy and U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Upon retirement from the military, he entered a second career at the U.S. Postal Service in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Nelson is preceded in death by his son, David Worth, and beloved wife, Anna Sue. He is survived by his sons Nelson Lewis II, Jon Marc and Craig Lee and daughters Traci Lynn, Pamela Ann, Alice Marie and Anna Maria plus six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Destin on July 20, 2014, at 4 p.m., with a viewing proceeding at 3 p.m. The burial service will occur July 21, 2014, at 11:45 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his honor to Grace Lutheran Church or Wounded Warriors.
