Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Aston White King, age 72, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. She was born March 3, 1941, in New Haven, Conn., to Vincent J. White and Gertrude A. Grimes White.

Mrs. King was a resident of Walton County for the past 15 years moving from Paoli, Ind. She was Methodist by faith and a member of Center Ridge United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay speaker. She was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving her country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964 having received the Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Ribbon, 1 Service Stripe, The Cold War Era Commemorative, and the Army Service Commemorative. She served as a volunteer for many organizations including American Red Cross, Special Olympics, Girl Scouts and 4H Club in Indiana. She also served as the Walton County Disaster Shelter Manager. She was a past Commander of the AMVETS Post #178, DeFuniak Springs, Fla. She was a member of the local DAV Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Post in Freeport, Fla.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her father and mother; one brother, Gardner White; and one sister, Jane Slater.
Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert "Bob" King of DeFuniak Springs; two daughters, Margaret I. Franz and husband Steven of Paoli, Ind., Tracy Ann King of DeFuniak Springs; one nephew, Fredrick Slater Jr. of New Haven, Conn.; one niece, Bonnie White of Maine; and one granddaughter, Sarah Franz of Gainesville, Fla.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435, with Reverends Rod Curry and Nancy Snyder officiating with military honors.
Interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. The family requests house plants be sent in Pat's memory.
