Staff Sgt. Robert W. Carpenter, U.S. Navy/U.S. Air Force (Ret.), age 83, was born on July 4, 1930, in Purvis, Miss., and went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2014. He was retired from the military after 21 years of service. During this time he served in the Korean and Vietnam War. Robert enjoyed sports, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and grandson, Nathan. Survivors include five sons, Warren and wife, Angela, Robert Jr. and wife, Linda, Steven, Randy and wife, Sharon, and David. Robert; also had 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Rd N.E, Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Services are to be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 1 p.m., at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, followed by a Committal Service at Beal Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice in Memory of Robert. Robert was a loving father and grandfather who always put family first. His love, laughter and friendship will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
