Susan Kay Berglund, age 74, went to sleep on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Her three year battle with breast cancer is finally over.
The Guest Book is expired.
Sue was born on Jan. 2, 1940, in East Lansing, Mich., shortly after her twin sister, Sally. She worked as an art teacher briefly after graduating from Western Michigan University but was best known for her work as a Bible teacher. Sue was an active member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and volunteered much time and effort sharing her faith with others.
On July 8, 1961, she married Dan Berglund and spent 52 years as his faithful and loving companion. Together, they shared many wonderful memories with their two children and four grandchildren.
Sue will always be remembered for her ability to find the "positive" in any situation. Her love for nature, travel and adventure was shared with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include Dan Berglund (husband); Dara Clark (daughter) and her husband, Mike; Bret Berglund (son) and his wife, Jill; grandchildren, Kollynn Rentz, Chelsey Smith and Lace' Clark. Also surviving are her mother, Emily Cook (95); and four siblings, Sally Okerstrom (twin), George Cook, Jr., Margie Schmidt and Brad Cook. She is preceded in death by her father, George Cook Sr.; David Cook (brother); and Chad Berglund (grandson).
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on Feb. 8, 2014, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 216 Jonquil Ave., Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
