Mr. Phillips, 81, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away April 22, 2012.

He was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Liberty County, Fla., to Mack M. Phillips and Elberta McDowell Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a resident of Mossy Head, Fla., and Baptist by faith. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He worked as a superintendent in construction for many years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mavis Phillips of 60 years; and his brother, Arthur Phillips. Mr. Phillips is survived by two sons, Bart Phillips and wife, Sue, of North Carolina, and Rodger Phillips and wife, Angela, of Mossy Head; two daughters, Ginger Phillips, and Sheila P. Mitchell and husband, Larry, of Mossy Head; one brother, Roland Phillips and wife, Erlene, of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Louise Matthews of Bristol, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Tonya Adams, Kristin Phillips, Lacy Phillips, Kevin Burgess, Michael Burgess, Kayla Burgess, Kurt Phillips, Chad Phillips, Tony Daniels, Sandy Daniels, Johnny Daniels and Chris Cancel; and 16 great- grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Robert Kelley and Joel Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Mossy Head Cemetery.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
