After singing, dancing and praying her way through 92 years, Gertrude Rodebush "Trudy," of Holly, Fla., passed away suddenly into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 15, 2012.
Gertrude was born in Arcadia, Mich., on Nov. 27, 1919 and married the love of her life, Willis Guy Rodebush on June 22, 1941. Together they worked in boat sales throughout the southeast United States for many years. They lived with their three sons in Frankfurt, Mich., and Tampa, Fla. She made many friends among her hobbies of quilting, singing, bird watching, boating and kicking up her heels on the dance floor.
She is survived by her sons and their families, Jerry and Pattie Rodebush, Denny and Peggy Rodebush, Bill and Heide Rodebush; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guy, in 1988, and siblings, Richard Manke, Irene Carmein and Anita Manke.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 5 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Shalimar, Fla. A memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frankfort, Mich., will be held at the family site in Arcadia, Mich., in August 2012, where Gertrude spent her summers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be made in Gertrude's name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Meigs Dr, Shalimar, FL 32579.
