Hubert L. Blansit, 71, of Shalimar, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at his home.

Hubert joined the military after graduation from high school and spent four years in the Navy. He then moved to Fort Walton Beach in late 1964 to work for Vitro then The Bell & Howell, later Syrus Data System, and retired in 2005. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time up a tree or floating down the river. Hubert was also a Little League Baseball coach for 17 years and influenced the lives of hundreds of children.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Marie Lyle. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of 48 years; daughter, Martha Lyle of Shalimar; son, Hugh Blansit Jr., and wife, Heather, of Shalimar; son, Matthew Blansit and wife, Katie, of Crestview; sister, Faye Bone and husband, Larry, of Fort Payne, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Stephen Lyle, Caleb Blansit and Ella Blansit.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m., at Shalimar Baptist Church, 17 Fourth Ave., Shalimar, Fla.
