Leroy O'Neal Kirkland, age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 in Loxely, Ala. He was born in Enterprise, Ala. on May 12, 1940, to James Vestus Kirkland and Ollie Jessie Kirkland. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and he also retired from Sprint Telephone Company. He was Baptist by faith, loved to fish, work in his yard and garden and he was a graduate of Choctawhatchee High School. He was a master of ingenuity and industrialism. Leroy was a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Martha Nell.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 13 years, Glenda Kirkland; his sons, James Steven and wife Kathy of Hendersonville, N.C., and David Dwayne and wife Gina of Crestview, Fla.; step-son, Mark Josey; four step-grandchildren; brother, James Ennis Kirkland of Hartford, Ala.; sister, Joyce Meador (Windsor) of Jasper, Ga.; grandchildren, Krystal Marie, Ashlee Nicole and Daniel Jay; and many special friends and relatives. His final days were spent surrounded by his family and friends reminiscing just how he touched our lives.
A time of visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service starting at 11 a.m. at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A private burial will be at a later date in Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery in Crestview, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to Springhill Home Health and Hospice of Daphne, Ala. 1-251-626-5895.
