Tammy Marie Hess, 41, eldest child of Herb and Cathy Hess, was born in Fairfield, Calif., and raised as an Air Force dependant living in various locations throughout the United States.

A 1988 graduate of William Howard Taft High School, located in San Antonio, Texas, Tammy moved to Niceville, Fla., in 1990 with her family when her father was stationed at Hurlburt Field. Tammy worked for American Airlines in both North Carolina and Texas, where she was responsible for executive relations. This career gave her the opportunity to discover her love for travel. Tammy traveled repeatedly to Europe and many areas across the United States. Tammy was very loving and a full of life person. She had a deep love and passion for animals and children.
In 2002, Tammy moved back to Niceville to be with her family. Here, she met David Forstrom and after a year-long courtship they were married on Dec. 4, 2004. After many attempts to have children of their own, Tammy and David became foster parents in 2007.
Tammy is survived by her husband, David; father and mother, Herb and Cathy Hess of Niceville; brother, Don Hess, and sister-in-law, Christa; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be loved and missed by all. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lewis and Gertrude Hess; her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Edith O'Leary; her uncle, Thomas O'Leary; and her nephew, Nicholas Hess.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville at noon on Saturday, Feb. 25, with a reception to follow at the church reception hall.
