Dr. Robert Edward 'Bob' Cunningham, 83, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at his home on Okaloosa Island on July 4, 2013. Bob was a warm, caring, accomplished man with a big heart. He proudly served our nation, many local communities and his family with selfless-ness throughout his life. He will be greatly missed and always treasured. Bob is survived by his wife more than nine years, Barbara Merrill Cunningham, of Fort Walton Beach; daughters, Lynn C. Harden (Chicago, Ill.) and Debra C. Scott (Acworth, Ga.); sons, Robert E. Cunning-ham, Jr. (Milton, Ga.) and Donald A. Cunningham (Charlottesville, Va.); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;and far too many extended family members to list. Bob was born in Pensacola, Fla., enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 16, retiring as a major with more than 30 years of service between active duty and U.S. Army Reserve time with the Alabama and Georgia Air National Guards. He graduated in 1959 from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, becoming the 17th licensed Chiropractor in the state of Georgia in 1960. At various times throughout his storied life, Bob was a crop duster pilot, instructor pilot, aircraft salesman, home-builder, real estate broker, Chiropractic industry consultant and college professor. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 1 p.m. CST at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, N.E., Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Bob's final internment and resting location will be next to Lynda Loyce Cunningham (1925 -1990), his beloved wife of more than 33 years, with a memorial service held at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy, N.W., Sandy Springs, GA 30328, on Saturday, July 13, 1 p.m. EST. A permanent online video memorial of Bob's life will be avail-able for viewing at www.dignitymemorial.com.
