David Daniel Lardo, 67, of Niceville, Fla., passed away on Feb. 2, 2014, at his home.

David was born on Dec. 4, 1946, in Brant, N.Y., in his maternal grandmother's home, to Dominica Renaldo Lardo and Louis Lardo. David was a Vietnam War veteran in the United States Air Force, and a former member of The Order of the Sons of Italy.
David worked at the Eglin Air Force Base Exchange, and the Okaloosa County Gas Company, from which he retired in 1977, after 20 years of service. David then worked for fourteen years at Walmart, Fort Walton Beach, as a valued employee and manager.
David was born and raised on a farm in Western New York, where he learned the value of hard work and simple living. David was a generous friend to many and always extended a helping hand when ever needed.
David is survived by his wife, Martha Turner Lardo; daughter, Holly Strickland and husband, Chris; brothers, Ronald I. Lardo and Dennis Lardo; brother-in-law, Jimmie R. Turner and wife, Judy; sister, Kathleen Gates and husband, Terrance; grandson, Nicolas Gabriel Strickland; nephews, Eric Gates, Brian Gates, Curtis Ford, Travis Turner and Cameron Turner; niece, Tania Taylor; and Larry and Charlotte Sterling.
Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Twin Cities Cremation & Funeral Services, 1405 John Sims Pkwy, Niceville. Funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Niceville; Father Dominic officiating. Internment to be held Thursday at 2 p.m., at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola NAS.
