His family moved several times in the Air Force and settled in Fort Walton Beach in the summer of 1961 in time for him to start 5th grade at Edwins Elementary. Tom played catcher for the Choctawhatchee High School baseball team and graduated 8th in his class of over 550 students in 1969. He received a scholarship to Florida State University (FSU). Three days after graduation, Tom was injured in a baseball game at Jet Stadium in Fort Walton Beach. After several years of recovery he continued on with college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting.
He entered Civil Service in 1982 at Eglin Air Force Base and retired in April 2012. The majority of his career he worked as a financial Management specialist in Foreign Military Sales.
Tom will be remembered for his positive attitude and humor. He loved to travel, and watch Jeopardy.
