Gordon Lowell Juliar, 78, of Niceville, Fla., and Crosslake, Minn., died Feb. 21, peacefully at this home in Niceville. He was born July 28, 1935, in Mankato, Minn., to Aaron and Rose Juliar. Gordy graduated from St. Clair High School in 1953, received his BA from Mankato State University in 1960 and Master's Degree at Colorado State University in 1974. He married Joan Hancock in1978, and lived in Edina, Minn., where they both were teachers in the Edina School System until his retirement in 1986.

Gordy served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of various service organizations.
A fierce competitor, celebrated athlete in basketball, baseball, and football; he loved all sports, especially golf. He coached varsity sports at Edina and previously in Minnesota Lake, Minn., from 1960 to 1969. He had a passion for business, economics, political debate and great humor. His jokes were aplenty.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Juliar; his sons, Jeff Juliar (New York City) and Jay and Cindy Juliar (Burnsville, Minn.); his step-children, Steve Hancock and Paulette Tollefson (Excelsior, Minn.), Martha and Drennon Stringer (Greensboro, N.C.), and Chuck and Cindy Hancock (Lakeville, Minn.). He and Joan are blessed with 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; his sister, Cora Sjostrom (St. Peter, Minn.); and sister-in-law, June Juliar (Mankato, Minn.).
His insights, laughter, and camaraderie will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
