Mrs. Sara Frances Laird, age 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Tuesday, March 11, 2104. She was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Coffee County, Ala., to A.J. and Lena McWaters Jones.
Mrs. Laird was a resident of Walton County for most of her life. She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in DeFuniak Springs. She worked at Lakeside Hospital with Dr. Spires, Dr. Spence and Dr. Myers in DeFuniak Springs as a Pharmacists Clerk, also with Service Drugs for 32 years, and later at Prescription Place. She greatly enjoyed serving the community. She enjoyed her family fellowship at the Senior Citizen Dances.
Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Howard "Butch" Laird, after 58 years of marriage; one sister, Mary Swango; two brothers, Harold Jones and Clifton Goodson; and two brothers-in-law, Phillip Swango, Melvin Febro and sister Myrtle Febro.
Mrs. Laird is survived by her son, Jim Laird and wife, Tonie, of South Carolina; nieces, Phyllis Swango, Patty Warner, Libby Tyler and Julie Anne; nephews, Ricko Swango, Mark Jones, Tim Jones and Andy Jones; one grandchild, Alex Laird, and wife, Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Rachael, Judith and Rebecca; very special friend, Sarah Burgess; and also survived by her puppy, "Smokey."
Visitation services will be held 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, March 14 , 2014, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joel Glenn and the Rev. Michael Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or donations may be made to the Children's Cancer Research Fund at 7301 Ohms Lane, Suite 460, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55439.
