Jacqueline "Jackie" Roy, 53, passed away in Shalimar, Fla., on March 12. Jackie was born on Dec. 20, 1960, in Lockport, N.Y., to Jack and Shirley Bobbitt. She graduated from High School in 1979 from Royalton Hartland Central, and in 1983 received her bachelor's degree in education from SUNY at Fredonia. In 2012 Jackie obtained her master's degree in education.

On Sept. 29, 1984, Jackie married the love of her life, Rob. They have resided and raised their family in the Fort Walton Beach area for 27 years.
Jackie was employed by Shalimar Elementary School from 2004 to 2012 as a 3rd grade teacher and was the former Director of the First United Methodist Pre School in Fort Walton Beach.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Shirley Bobbitt. Survived by her loving husband, Robert E. Roy; sons, Bobby, Michael, Kevin and Cameron Roy; sisters, Tracy Bobbitt and Stacy (Richard) McLaughlin; brother, Bryan (Suzanne) Bobbitt; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Patricia Roy; sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Neil) Norris, Tricia (Leo) Blumberg and Julia (Ken) Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held Monday, March 17, 2014, at 3 p.m., at the Shalimar United Methodist Church, 1 Old Ferry Road, Shalimar, Fla., Dr. Larry Bryars officiating. A reception will follow at the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Voices Against Brain Cancer, 1375 Broadway, 3rd Floor, New York, New York, 10018 or www.voicesagainstbraincancer.org. For two years Jackie fought heroically against brain cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death.
