Max C. Bolton, Jr., age 90, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was born in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 20, 1923, and lived in Fort Walton Beach since 1966.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Lewis Bolton; infant son, Roy Stewart; and second wife, Joanie Bolton. Survivors include his children, Mary (Reed) Lawrence, Max C. Bolton, III, Martha Lee (Wayne) Modny, and Mark (Kim) Bolton; grandchildren, Robert (Kelly) Lawrence, Riki (Sarah) Lawrence, Rebekah (Tony) Travoullilan, Heather (Thomas) Scallan, Mark Bolton and Amanda (Michael) Pizzuto; and great-grandchildren, Savanna, Kiya, Jenavieve, and Avery Lawrence, Ryan Rose, Karina and Jude Scallan, and Logan and Cameron Pizzuto.
Max volunteered for the U.S. Army Aviation Cadet Training and received his pilot wings and commission as second lieutenant at the age of 20. He served in the U.S. Air Force over 20 years. After retiring from the service, he took a position as editor at OSU for several years, retiring in 1981. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest.
He was an active member of the congregation at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 4 to 5 p.m., at McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Avenue SE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on Friday, March 28, 2014, with memorial services following at 5 p.m., with Military Honors.
