Edward W. Clarno, of Fort Walton Beach, FL died peacefully on April 26, 2014. Ed was born in Sterling, Colorado on August 24, 1921 to Henry E. Clarno and Katherine M. Clarno. He moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1953 with his loving wife, Dorothy ""Dot"" Clarno.

Ed's career started when he joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Army Corp of Engineers during World War II, and was a participant in The Manhattan Project. He attended Georgia Tech and Iowa State University where he earned his Engineering Degree. He went to work for Vitro Services in 1947 and retired as Vitro's Vice President in 1982.
Always community minded, Ed served on Fort Walton Beach's Municipal Advisory Board in the late 1960's. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Emerald Coast for many years and served as their Lt. Governor in the late 1970's.
After retirement, Ed was integral in establishing Okaloosa County's small claims Mediation Program and continued to oversee the program until 2010. The Okaloosa-Walton Bar Association awarded him the Liberty Bell award for his service in 2003.
Ed loved spending time with his wife and family. He also loved golfing, bowling, and watching his favorite sports teams; the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
He is survived by his wife of almost 71 years, Dorothy and their four children, Terry Clarno, Patty Bolling, Candy Hower and Jan Clarno; nine grandchildren, Robin Anchors, Susan Coup, Charity Hube, Robert Bolling, Jason Bolling, Stephen Clarno, Teresa Clarno, Danielle Hower and Cassie Hower; eight great-grandchildren, Trent Askegard, Kelsy Hube, Jordan Hube, Maya Bolling, Isabele Bolling, Andreana Anderson, Zoe Bolling and Maddox Clarno and two great-great grandchildren Brantley Anderson and Brooklynn Askegard.
He is preceded in death by two- granddaughters, Traci Lynn Clarno and Chasity Oliver.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 5:00PM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service for a visitation.
A grave side service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00AM at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Ed was greatly loved and respected and will be missed by family and friends alike.
