Melanie moved from Birmingham to Destin in early 2005 to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a full time artist. Her work has been in many of the spring and fall art festivals in the Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama areas. She became known locally as the "Angel Lady" since many of her paintings were of faceless angels. Melanie said everyone needs an Angel in their life.
Melanie's life as a daughter and friend will be remembered by those who love her and missed by all she earned her own angel wings way too soon.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday May 3, at 11 a.m., near the Pavilion next to the Crab Trap Restaurant located directly on the beach in Destin, Fla. Everyone is asked to bring a beach chair for seating – dress is casual. The event will be to celebrate Melanie's life, anyone that wishes can share a happy memory or story of Melanie with those gathered.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local Humane Society in her memory.
