Janet Bell Donovan (1922 - 2014)

The Guest Book is expired.

Janet Bell Donovan, 91, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Superior Residence of Niceville.
Janet was born in Grady, Ala., on June 21, 1922, to the late Mary Ethel and Willis Vincent Bell. She grew up in Alabama and worked for the Chief of Police in Montgomery. After her marriage to Daniel on Oct. 3, 1952, they resided for several years in England, North Dakota, and Colorado before settling in Fort Walton Beach. After Daniel retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1959, they remained in Fort Walton Beach. During this time, she worked for New York Life Insurance Company, retiring when her granddaughter was born.
She was a loving wife to Daniel Robert Donovan and devoted to her son, Vince; daughter, Debbie; and granddaughters, Leigh and Jana.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Daniel Robert Donovan and her brother, Willis Vincent Bell. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her son, Vincent, of Fort Walton Beach and daughter, Debbie, and husband, Bob, of Panama City, Fla.; granddaughters, Leigh and Jana Miles, of Panama City, Fla.; sister-in-law, Bertha Bell, of Birmingham, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends across the country.
Janet was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ, where she will be deeply missed. She was active with her church and enjoyed her Ladies Bible class and lunch bunch gatherings. She was always crocheting in her rocking chair and sharing her afghans with many. If you called and asked what she was doing, she would always reply, "I'm just a rocking!" She loved her granddaughters and always looked forward to their visits and visiting them in Panama City.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m., at McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Avenue SE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
