Mary Beth Mathews, 66, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., went home to be with our heavenly father Monday May 12, 2014. Known by many as "Sissy" and Maw-maw, she was born on Jan. 22, 1948, in Macon, Ga., and was the third child for Joseph and Virginia Barranco.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, sister, and maw-maw, family and friends meant everything to her and it showed in every gesture she made. One of her many joys of life were when she was with her grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Ralph L. Mathews; her parents, Joseph and Virginia Barranco.
She is survived by two children, daughter, Lynn Ellis and husband, Steve, along with son, Michael Mathews and Aimee Whims. She had two beloved grandchildren, Michael Mathews II and Ashlynn Mathews of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Her surviving siblings include her sister, Beverly Filer and husband, Joseph, of San Antonio, Texas; and brothers, Joseph Barranco Jr., and wife, Michele, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Ben Barranco of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 16, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 110 St Mary Ave., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with interment to follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 Beal Pkwy, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made, in memory of Mary Mathews, to St. Mary Catholic School, 110 Robinwood Drive SW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
