Linda A. Hilliard, 56, passed away July 24, 2014, at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with family by her side. Linda was recently diagnosed with lung cancer that shortly after had quickly spread to her brain. The Lord called her home even against our selfish wishes.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born in Memphis, Tennessee where she graduated from Grace St. Luke's Episcopal School. At a young age of just 22, Linda moved to Chicago and then New York City to work for Polo Ralph Lauren. She later on in life moved to Destin, Florida, which became her lifetime home.
Linda became a real estate agent for Resort Quest, where she remained with a loving family and was a devoted associate for 15 years. Linda loved to travel and try new things and she also loved her friends and family dearly. She will be sorely missed by her family. Linda contributed her time to Mission Love Seeds, Village Baptist's Angel Tree, and her largest amount of time to Alaqua Animal Refuge. Linda had a huge heart for rescue animals and would always bring them home to keep or to find another loving home for them.
Linda is survived by her mother and father, Jim and Gloria Hilliard of Destin, Florida; sister, Gayle Belter of Memphis, Tennessee; niece and nephew, Jack and Anne Belter of Destin; niece, Meg Kerr of Memphis; two cousins, Randy and wife Carol Matz of Atlanta, Georgia and their children Beth and Robert; cousin, Rusty and wife Cathy Matz of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and their children Daniel and Rachel; cousin, Dr. Earl and wife Barbara Becker of Tallahassee, Florida and their children Andrew, Hilary, and Allison.
A Celebration of Life to honor Linda will be held Saturday, August 2, at 11 a.m. at Village Baptist Church at 101 Matthew Blvd. Destin, FL 32541. There will be a reception to follow at the same location. You may sign the guestbook and express condolences to the family at www.heritagegardensfuneralhome.com.
