Count me and my family as one of the many people that Durrell helped without hesitation. My daughter on graduation from high school in Pensacola was valedictorian and a Bright Futures scholar but decided to follow her dream playing college volleyball and went to Emory in Atlanta her first semester (all on daddy's dime). That didn't work out so I called FSU to try to get her enrolled there and reinstate her scholarship. I was told I was too late. I called on a fellow FSU alumnus who was a well heeled personal injury attorney who had just donated $1 Million to the school to intercede. His call wasn't even returned. I mentioned my efforts to Durrell's brother John with whom I've worked for over 25 years. John told Durell and within 2 hours my daughter was enrolled for the Spring semester and had an additional scholarship. That's the respect and pull Durell had to help people and I'll never forget him and his kindness. He was a good man who will be sorely missed.

Sen. Peadon was a good friend to the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. He helped start our annual Quail Calcutta of which the funds are used to help our community. We will miss Sen. Peadon and his friendship.
