Judith Ann Jackson was born on March 24, 1947, in Plainfield, N.J., to Vivian Vincent and Wilhemina Lillian McKoy.
The eighth of 11 children, Judith grew up and attended public schools in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Matthew Hester of Montclair, N.J., and blessed with two children, Khadja Wright and Miquel Hester. She remarried Johnny Jackson, and Khaliah Jackson was born from that union. She was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Vincent McKoy of Plainfield; and her sister, Regina Patricia Harris.
Judith lived from Irvington and East Orange, N.J., to Niceville, Fla., to Valparaiso, Fla., and finally back to Niceville. Judith graduated from nursing school and fashioned her dress style like that of a model. Hence, she was collecting vintage clothing and antiques from her favorite shops. While in Niceville you might have spotted her at work or out and about with her 40-ish hats and shoe apparel, which her present home boasts of her stylish collection of jewelry and furniture. Yes, once a week Judith made it to her shops, if she could. She maintained a lovely home and garden.
She enjoyed 20 years as an employee of Eglin Air Force Base Pro Shop. She was the pro shop greeter extraordinaire. From military to civilian golfers all were impressed by her service, as they always looked for J.J.
Judith departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at 8:46 a.m. to be with her Heavenly Father. To celebrate her life she leaves nine siblings, Gaylord Vincent McKoy of Mitchellville, Md., Cynthia Virginia Hazell of Berkley, Calif., Barrington George McKoy and wife Barbara Jean of Mitchellville, Edith Pamela McKoy of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Fredrick Godfrey McKoy and wife Laura of Ellenwood, Ga., Tyrone Edgar McKoy and wife Christine of Clinton, Md., Barbara Lynn Henry and husband Ernest Henry III of Washington D.C., David Gregory McKoy and wife Cheryl of Niceville, and Deborah McKoy of Sandestin, Fla.
Judith is survived by her three children, Khadja Wright of Newport News, Va., Miquel Hester of Mitchellville, and Khaliah Jackson of Niceville. Her son-in-law, Sammie Wright III of Newport News; her four grandchildren, Tierra Hester, Kayla Hester, Kyra Wright and Samuel Wright also mourn her passing; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers and friends of Eglin golfers.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 22, at New Life Christian Ministries, 130 N. Partin Drive, Niceville.
