Patricia Ann Hudson Stewart, our wife and beloved Mother, on Sunday, May 16, 2010, eight days shy of her 72nd birthday, lost her 37-year battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born May 24, 1938, in Beaufort, S.C., she spent her childhood and youth there. She graduated from Beaufort High School Class of 1956. She was a secretary in Charleston, S.C., while attending Palmer Business College. She met her future husband of 51 ½ years, Ret. Lt. Col. Clarence A. Stewart (Stew). They were married in 1958 at the Beaufort Baptist Church. She loved being an Air Force wife with assignments in Charleston, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Bitburg, Germany, Beaufort, for a year while Stew was in South East Asia, Eglin, Hawaii, and then back to Eglin before they retired in 1977. Upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their three sons and families.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, David and Lucy Hudson; and her sister, Rose Russell. She is survived by her husband, Stew; her three sons, Clarence A. Stewart II (Clay), John Hudson Stewart and David Patrick Stewart; one brother, Jesse David Hudson (Juggy); grandchildren, Summer, John, Patrick, Andrew, Jackson and Georgia; one great-grandchild, Cody; as well as various aunts, uncles and cousins in the Beaufort area.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 20, at McLaughlin Mortuary at 6 p.m. with visitation to begin at 5 p.m. Burial will take place on Saturday, May 22, in Beaufort.
Flowers will be graciously accepted; but, if your wife or Mother is still around, give her a hug or call in memory of our beloved wife and Mother.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tim Tuel and his wife Stacey. We will neither confirm or deny the use of Emerald Coast Hospice but would like to thank home health technicians Annie, Ok, nurses Robin, Alicia, Linda Sue, Angie and Suzanne, plus head socialist Andrea. To our housekeeper who was there to the end, Stephanie Patton. We love you very much.
