John Shelley Scroggins

1929 - 2012

John "Shelley" Scroggins, 82, of Wewahitchka, Fla., surrounded by his family, died at home after a long term illness took him Friday, April 6, 2012. Shelley was born July 11, 1929 in Milligan, Fla. He was a hardworking, self taught man. Whether it was electrical, AC, or computer related, he could get the job done. His goal when he retired was to move to the river, which he did in Wewahitchka. There he enjoyed his favorite pastimes: fishing and playing the guitar. No matter where his journeys through life took him, the friends he made were for a life-time. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Kathryn Adams; father, John Henry Scroggins; brother, Burton Scroggins; and son, Neal Wilson.
He leaves behind his wife, Jeanette; daughters, Cheryl Campbell, Loretta Crossley, Margie Renfer, and Susan Guidry and husband Pierre; son, Doug Wilson and wife Leigh; brother, Charles and wife Ann; sisters, Alta Townsend and Glenda Fortune; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012 at Black Creek United Methodist Church in Freeport, Fla. beginning at 2 p.m. with Reverend Jim Hill and Jeff Scroggins officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Committal services will follow at the Black Creek Methodist Church Cemetery. Flowers are being accepted.
