Robert C Theisen, loving and respected husband, father and grandfather, of Niceville, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 29, to join his loving wife, Barbara, of 53 years in paradise.
Robert was born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1936. After high school, Robert attended Canisius College in Buffalo to pursue a degree in business, specializing in accounting. After graduation, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army as an officer to pursue a career in the military.
Robert retired from the U.S. Army after establishing himself as a distinguished officer, serving his country in Korea and Vietnam. During Robert's military career as part of the Special Forces, he was awarded several decorations and service medals to include, the Silver and Bronze medals, three Purple Hearts, Army Commendation Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Known as a strong and trusting officer, Robert was also known as a strong and loving husband, dad and grandfather. Col. Robert Theisen retired after serving his country for 31 years and moved with his wife, Barbara, to Niceville in 1992.
Col. Theisen served with the 3rd, 5th, and 7th Special Forces Groups, 1st Special Forces (A) as well as MACVSOG-CCN. Col. Theisen served his nation from 1960 to 1994 with Barbara always by his side, and soon they will be together again with a burial service at Arlington National Cemetery. (Date to Be Determined)
Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert Theisen Jr. and Larry Theisen; three grandchildren, Jenna Banks, Laura Theisen and Ryan Theisen.
There will be a memorial service held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1200 Valparaiso Blvd., Niceville, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Col. Theisen has requested that all donations be forwarded to SFA or SOA Scholarship Fund in their parents' name. Condolences can be mailed to Larry C. Theisen, 220 Hillside Drive, Niceville, FL 32578.
