David Dean Acree

David Dean Acree, mom's cutest baby, Richard's confidant and oyster partner, Jo's soul mate, dad's crabbing and gunner buddy, Skip's Beatles buddy, Paula and Jaclyn's prankster and Rena's lost love, has gone home to be with the Lord. He had a moment of peace before passing into eternal peace.
David is pre-deceased by Kiddo and Charlie Durham and Christine and Walter Acree, his grandparents. He is survived by his parents, Walter and Jackie Acree; his siblings, Skip, Richard, and Jo; and his daughter, Rena Cooper; along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
David was born in Richmond, Va., and enjoyed growing up on or near the sea. He loved his family and tried to stay close no matter how many times they moved. He had been a long time resident of Florida, loving the abundance the sea had to offer his palate. A chef in his own right, he loved preparing extravagant meals for large groups of people. One primary target was his co-workers at the Northwest Florida Daily News where he served faithfully for over 20 years. But he would lay out a gourmet meal to any group that gathered. Also an enthusiast of music of all kinds and accomplished piano player, he was prone to burst into song at anytime (especially around sweet women). His brief residence in Oklahoma involved many doctor visits yet he developed a deep love for Braum's milkshakes, street tacos, chicken fried steak at Ann's as well as keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood streets at night, and trying to win the holiday decorating contests of N. Grove Avenue.
He was given two of his most desired wishes in December. First, his family was able to gather for a wonderful Christmas complete with country ham, turkey, love and presents, and a blanketing snowfall. I think he actually shed a tear when the snow came. Second, of course his beloved Redskins made it to the playoffs by wiping up the field with Dallas. Oh glorious day, more than one happy tear on that one. David expressed his joy and confidence in his Savior Jesus Christ. We are able to go on without him because he has no more pain, no more pills, no more doctors, no more confusion. We love you David and will miss you always. Save a dance for me. A farewell celebration for friends and family will be held in Pt. Washington, Fla., at the Pt. Washington Methodist Church on Sunday
