Harry William Suggs, Jr. passed away at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on Feb. 18, 2013, at the age of 69.
Affectionately nicknamed, "Butch," he is preceded in death by his father, Harry William Suggs, Sr., and his son, James Everett Suggs.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Rennee Hart Suggs.
Butch is warmly remembered by his children, Leslie, Randa, Diana, Charlene, Erin and Katherine. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Shields; his sisters, nieces and nephews; as well as his six grandchildren.
The family would like to express their recognition to his nephew, Rick Watkins, who was loved like a son and here for Butch during his illness.
Butch was born on North Island Naval Station, California, on Oct. 26, 1943. He grew up in the Southeast and joined the United States Air Force after he finished school. After serving 20 years in the military, he retired and settled in Fort Walton Beach. Butch went on to work as a civilian for the Department of Defense at Eglin Air Force Base before transferring to Hurlburt Field where he eventually retired after over 20 years of civil service.
Butch enjoyed cross country motorcycling, boating, NASCAR, and working on any type of engine. Butch was a family man who truly enjoyed seeing smiles on the faces of the people he loved and admired most. He was a man who knew exactly how to make a person feel special.
A graveside service will be held at Jesse Rogers Cemetery (across from Target on Highway 98) in Mary Esther, Fla., on March 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 112 Service Officers 920 Hospital Dr. Niceville, FL 32578,(850) 678-3525.
