George C. Metz, of Niceville, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, June 4, at his home. He was born on Aug. 30, 1935, in New York City, N.Y. George loved his country and faithfully served in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a lieutenant colonel after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America as well as a member of the Association of Old Crows.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol E. Metz of Niceville; son, Craig C. Metz of Houston, Texas; daughter, Gayle Metz Buckles of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother, Richard Metz of Las Vegas, Nev. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Katie Buckles and Logan Metz. George will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
There will be a time of visitation held on Friday, June 7, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment with full military honors to follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
