Col. Kenneth G. Harris (Ret.) passed away July 24, 2013. He was born July 14, 1923, in Bryant, Okla. Raised by his father, a sharecropper, after his mother's early death, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1941, flying "the hump" in World War II. His 37-year career with the U.S. Air Force included service in Korea and Vietnam, piloting more than 50 different types of aircraft. He retired in 1978, living in Niceville, Fla., until two months ago, when he moved to Titusville to be closer to family.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Kathy (Pat) Harris; sons, Michael (B.J.) and Kevin (Cheryl); step-daughters, Laura (Steve) and Nancy (Scott); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niceville.
