Marcia Alice Troop of Shalimar, Fla., passed away on Sept. 22, 2013, at the age of 80, with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Col. Richard W. Troop, U.S. Air Force (Ret.); sons, Gary and Randy Troop; daughters-in-law, Patricia Brown-Troop and Cathy Troop; siblings, Ann Carroll, David Welch and Mary Warrington; grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Mathew, Blake, Brooke, Blair and Brent Troop; nieces and nephews, Sarah Rogers, Elizabeth Warrington, Adam and Michael Welch, and god daughter, Lisa Bergstrom Mathes. Marcia was from Sacramento, Calif., where she met Richard while he was attending U.S. Air Force navigator training. She was the quintessential military wife and mother, holding the family together through multiple moves and deployments. Family assignments included Travis Air Force Base, Calif., Palo Alto, Calif., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Dayton, Ohio, and Washington D.C. Marcia volunteered for a number of causes and truly enjoyed helping others who were less fortunate than she. She loved having her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews visit their home on Poquito Bayou, where they swam, fished, tubed, waterskied, and received an abundance of unconditional love. There will be a private family service. Those wishing to honor Marcia can make a contribution to one of the following charities that she supported in life: Sharing and Caring (http://www.sharing-n-caring.org/fortwaltonbeachhome.htm), SOCKS (http://www.saveourcatsandkittens.com), or PAWS (http://paws-shelter.com).
