Alice Delys Dearmon, age 59, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. She was born in Gainsville, Ala., to Alice Dearmon and J. D. Dearmon. Delys grew up fishing and boating and developed a life-long love for the outdoors. She loved beautiful things and found great pleasure in architecture, interior design and studying religion. Delys was a builder and developer by occupation and had a passion for the growth and expansion of Destin.

She opened the first title company in Destin, and built some of the most beautiful and luxurious developments including Tranquil Harbor, Pier 98 and Terra Cotta Cottages. She was a driven and successful business woman. Her life's passion and motivation for living during her seven year battle with breast cancer, was her family.
The center of her world was her son, Jacob Dumont Dearmon. She devoted her entire life to supporting him in his many endeavors.
Delys is preceded in death by her father, J.D. Dearmon; and nephew, James Wyatt Dearmon.
She is survived by her son, Jacob Dearmon; mother, Alice Dearmon; brother, James D. Dearmon (Shelah); sister, Camille Morrison; stepmother, Sybil Dearmon; nephew, John Ed Dearmon; nieces, Lillian Delys Trest and Izzy Morrison; and lifelong friend, Gina Glasgow.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Faith Assembly Christian Church, 306 S. Geronimo St., Destin, FL 32550, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at 1 p.m. Service will be officiated by Pastor Toy R. Arnett.
