Harold Eugene Brewer

MERCER, Wis. – Harold Eugene "Gene" Brewer passed away peacefully Dec. 30, 2012, in his home in Mercer, Wis., in the company of his family.
He was born in 1928 in Woodstock to Harold B. Brewer and Mae (Miller) Brewer.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean (West) Brewer, four children, Howard, Harris (Cynthia), Helen and Heidi, three grandchildren, Howie, Heather (Eric) and Hannah and a great-grandson, Samuel.
He was a graduate of Woodstock High School and served four years in the United States Coast Guard. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff in McHenry County and was Police Chief in Fox River Grove and Harvard.
He worked as a Deputy Coroner in McHenry County and regional supervisor with the Secretary of State before retirement.
He enjoyed thirty years as a Republican committeeman in McHenry County and was a Master Mason for 50 years, Marengo Lodge No. 138.
He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of Wisconsin and services were private at his request.
