James Paul Jackson Sr.

WOODSTOCK – James Paul Jackson Sr., 76, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.
He was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Johnsburg, to Ford and Mayme (Frett) Jackson. He married Sandra Leonard of Woodstock on July 27, 1957.
Jim was a carpenter by trade, working for his brothers, Joe and Ed Jackson of Woodstock Construction, and later for R&D Thiel Carpenter Contractors as vice president.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Jim was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast who enjoyed his grandchildren's sporting events to a fault.
He was a loving father and grandfather who loved a good laugh.
He was also ready to help anyone who needed him – loose with his advice and his wallet!
He will be missed by more people than you can imagine.
He enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Kobe.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jackson of Woodstock; and their five children, James Jackson Jr. of Woodstock, Mike (Janet) Jackson of Hershey, Pa., Lisa (Paul) Van Slyke of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy (Joe) Schweder of Woodstock and Jay (Jackie) Jackson of St. Charles. Jim was also a great grandpa (Pop-Pop) to eleven grandchildren, Joe and Sam Schweder of Woodstock, Katie, Kelly, Daniel and Griffen Jackson of Hershey, Pa., Jacks and Maddie Van Slyke of Atlanta, Ga., and Jacob, Grace and Savannah Jackson of St. Charles. He is also survived by a brother, Ed (Andie) Jackson of Harvard; and a sister, Kate Michelau of Grayslake.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, George (Joyce), Joe (Betty) and Art (Glorice); and by his sisters, Connie May and Marie Huntington.
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, until the 10 a.m. Mass celebration at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church, Johnsburg. Father Rafal Wasilewski, CR., will officiate. Interment will be private.
