CRYSTAL LAKE – Ruth E. Blahnik, nee Bathke, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at her home in Crystal Lake.
She was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Algoma, Wis., to Louis and Mary (Jerabek) Bathke. On April 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to David Blahnik in Spokane, Wash. She enjoyed being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and past member of Home Arts Guild, both in Crystal Lake.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Maridelle (Ted) McKesson of Crystal Lake and Marla (David Mathews) Strauss of Cary; her cherished grandchildren, George (Jennifer) Boyd, Brandi (Gary) Arroyo and Timothy Boyd; her treasured great-grandchildren, Camryn Boyd, Peyton Arroyo and Portia Arroyo; her dear brother-in-law, Lloyd (Laverne) Blahnik; four nephews; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Blahnik; her parents, Louis and Mary Bathke; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Alvina (Reinhold) Rodrian, Marie (Erwin) Moede and Viola (Carl) Lawrenz; her nephew, Mahlon Moede; and her nieces, Elaine Patton and Myrna Sisel.
The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Illinois Route 176), Crystal Lake with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Schinderle Funeral Home, 1600 Schinderle Lane, Algoma, where the family will receive friends and family from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma.
