Vanessa Vermond-Martin

HEBRON – Vanessa Vermond-Martin, 42, formerly of Hebron, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at her home in Alden following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a graduate of Alden-Hebron High School. She attended McHenry County College and spent a semester in Canterbury, England. She continued her education as a computer graphics artist at Colombia College in Chicago, where Tommy Hilfiger presented her with an award for "Best in Show."
She traveled extensively in Europe and the United States using her artistic talents and boundless energy to inspire all around her. She was involved in the entertainment industry designing custom apparel and promotional material for celebrities. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity and generosity.
Vanessa returned to Hebron in 2011 with her beloved son, John, where she met and married Randy Martin. Their daughter, Farrah Sophia, was born July 1, 2012.
Vanessa is survived by her husband, Randy Martin; son, John; and daughter, Farrah of Alden; her mother, Jeanne Johnson; and sister, Marlo Johnson of Hebron; devoted mother-in-law, Jane (Dana) Sublett of Capron; father-in-law, Kim Martin of Galena; uncle, Louis (Nancy) Vermond; and cousins, Nicole, Kira, Amy and Dean of Ontario, Canada. She also leaves behind an extended loving family and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Frances Vermond; and father, Ronald Johnson.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Hebron United Methodist Church, 9811 Main St., Hebron. The visitation will be at 10 a.m. with the service immediately following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the benefit of her children would be appreciated.
