Caroline Von Werder Obituary

SCHAUMBURG – Caroline Von Werder, 91, of Schaumburg and formerly of Chicago, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove.
She was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Chicago, to Arno M. and Hazel Wagner. She married Robert Von Werder on Feb. 4, 1989.
She was a resident at Friendship Village and a retiree of ITW Corporate.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy (Mark Higby) Bangle of McHenry; her grandchildren, Kristine Baker and Michael Baker of Escondido, Calif.; a great-grandson, Pfc. Alexander Baker, USMC; a sister-in-law, Norma Klage; and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Von Werder; her half sisters, Apolina McKay and Mary Vasey; two brothers-in-law, Thomas McKay and Clarence "Shorty" Klage; and a sister-in-law, Grace Von Werder.
A memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, 1000 E. State Parkway, Suite 1, Schaumburg, IL 60173; or Shriners Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60635.
