Lucille Michels Obituary
She was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Spring Grove, to Arthur and Emma (May) Hergott.
She was a housekeeper for several prominent families in the Johnsburg and McHenry area.
A member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Johnsburg, she belonged to the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the Foresters St. Agatha Court 777 NCSF.
An avid Bulls and Cubs fan, she attended a game every year for her birthday and enjoyed playing bingo every week. She loved to travel and had been to Alaska, Ireland, England and many other places. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Townsend of Lake Geneva; two grandchildren, Timothy Townsend of Lake Geneva and Tina Townsend of Pell Lake, Wis.; her four grandchildren, Desiree, Sebastian, Hailee and Maggie; and her sister, Jeanette Sweet of Woodstock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Michels; three brothers, Albert, Edwin and Gerald; and two sisters, Evelyn and Eleanor.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church, Johnsburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
