Ronald Saur Obituary

Crystal Lake – Ronald E. Saur, 71, of Crystal Lake, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1939, in Chicago, to Ragnar and Alma (Reinberger) Saur. He married Donna Nielsen on July 19, 1974, in Woodstock. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, James Skipworth.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake. He retired after 35 years of service with the city of Crystal Lake as the chief water plant operator. He was a collector of coins and loved cars. He also was an avid player of World of Warcraft.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna; his sons, Nathan (Linda) Mims and Ronald (Rebeccah) Saur Jr.; his grandsons, Mitchell and Morgan Mims; his brothers-in-law, Kevin Frye, Carlos Franks, Thomas (Pamela) Nielsen and Dennis (Kim) Nielsen; his nieces, Angela, Melisa, Jamie, Catherine, Danielle and Stephanie; and his nephews, Shawn and Chad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Noellen Skipworth, Alma Frye and Joyce Franks; his brother, James Skipworth; and his sister-in-law, Karen Schiller.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

Dear Aunt Donna & Little Ronnie
I just want the world to know that uncle ronnie was the best man in the world. He will always be my favorite uncle. He was a great dad and amazing husband.I know this first hand. I seen him raise you little ronnie and he loved you so much.And was always there for you aunt donna. I will miss him so much.I know he will be waiting for all of us with open arms when we meet again. I love you both.

Dear Donna, Ronnie, & Family,
So sorry and saddened to hear of Ron's passing. We enjoyed our Xmas Day chats at Kim & Denny's house. We have missed them the past three years. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Take care.
