Joan, a notice popped up in my email today for the legacy page. It made me smile, seeing Tom's name and remembering his kindness and sense of humor. I cannot believe it has been ten years already. I remember seeing you two with Leigh in the stroller in Woodfield Mall like it was yesterday. You and the girls will always be everything to Tom. He always had a smile on his face. He was one of the best.

My dear Joan, Sarah and Leigh,
I just heard about Tom and my heart broke for all of you. You and Tom were so wonderful when we were in China and I'll never forget you both being there and Tom taking such priceless pictures when I received Liana that night in Changsha. Wish I had known earlier, but my mom died last week too. Our love to you all and we will be in touch soon. Love, Phyllis & Liana

February 11, 2011

Dear Joan,
Mary Frye said it best and if Tom were he, I think he would agree:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)

Our deepest condolences,

Mike, Jan, Kurt, Meghann, and Katie Boyd

Joan, Sarah and Leigh,
Having gone through the death of my sister not so long ago, I feel your deepest pain. But you now have an angel up in Heaven, looking over you every day. When little things "just happen" and defy explanation, you will know where they come from. Our Lord is cradling Tom in His loving arms and is holding and supporting you as well in your time of loss. God Bless you all!

My thoughts, prayers are with you now as they have been throughout this difficult trial.
There is no sense to this loss. We, as a community can not fathom your pain, yet we hurt with you. It is said that within tragedy, God shows His might and miracles; today he has summoned an entire community that cares to comfort you and your family.

We all will miss Tom and offer our suppport in all possible ways to you and your girls.

With warm regards

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Joan and the two girls. Thank you for all you have done and gone through the last several months.
Tom was always one of the "good guys" on the job who demanded respect as a supervisor, but also as a friend. He was always a professional in his police career and his photography work. When I think of Tom, I am only filled with admiration for his devotion, especially to his family. May the Lord be with you and the girls.

To the Rembacz Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you through such a difficult time. We did not have the privilege of knowing Tom, but will remember him with a smile on his face, a camera around his neck, and flanked by his girls. He is now dancing with Jesus.

Blessings,

Diana Henry

Joan, so sorry to hear about Tom...I just wish we could have known him better. It sounds like he touched many with his kindness. He served and protected here on earth and now will do the same from up above. You were his very special angel to care for him the way you did. God bless you and the girls at this difficult time.

To Tom, Joan & Family,
Tommy's pain is over, but, beware, his "spirit" and his sense of humor will remain forever! Watch out for some of those "Tommy, the Friendly Ghost" tricks!
He was as good man, a great police officer and father and husband - not a bad run, as he might say!

I have been out of the courthouse for 2 years and saw your husband everyday. He was so so nice and very proud of his girls I remember him bringing pictures of them and we would talk family because I also live in Cary and go to St. Peter and Paul. This is such an shock and very sad. He was very proud of you being a nurse and help the people who are sick. My heart is very heavy and all my prayers and thoughts are with you Tom will be missed. God Bless you!
