Forrest Snow Obituary

HARVARD – Forrest "Frosty" W. Snow, 89, of Harvard, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford.

He was born July 23, 1921, in Walworth, Wis., to Frank and Cora (Greene) Snow. He married Betty Woodcock on Sept. 22, 1943, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a flooring contractor in the Harvard area for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge and the Experimental Aircraft Association and enjoyed woodworking and attending air shows.

He is survived by his three children, Barb Snow of Harvard, Susan (Richard) Humke of New Holstein, Wis., and Lisa (Alan) Tody of Harvard; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Nov. 29, 1989; two sons, Gerald Lee Snow and Merrill "Buzz" R. Snow; and a sister, Beth Larkin.

The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard. The Rev. Herb D. Priester will officiate. Interment will be in Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron.

Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, 4223 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108-2047.

Frosty was a craftsman. Over forty years ago we traded our Volkswagon for a tile job in our bathroom. I don't know what happened to the VW, but Frosty's tile job still looks as good as new.
