Lydia Spengel Obituary
She was born June 13, 1949, in Germany, to Lubomyr and Maria (Krekota) Kupczak. She married Gary L. Spengel on April 28, 1984, in McHenry.
She had been a resident of McHenry since 1984. She had been employed as an office manager for State Mutual Insurance Co. in Downers Grove. She was a former member of Saints Volodymyr and Olha Ukranian Catholic Church in Chicago, and she most recently was a member of Church of Holy Apostles Church in McHenry. She enjoyed cooking and loved shopping with family and friends looking for that special deal. She always loved flowers and having them around her house.
Survivors include her loving husband of 27 years, Gary; her only child, a daughter, Valya; her mother-in-law, Virginia Spengel; her sisters-in-law, Missy Spengel, Pam (Marty) Patterson, Kim (Mike) Johnson and Joyce (Steve) Rossman; her brothers-in-law, Scott (Diane) Spengel and Keith (Trish) Spengel; many nieces and nephews; and her very dear friend, Mary (Andre) Knych.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Ted Spengel; and a brother-in-law, Craig Spengel.
The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Church of Holy Apostles Church, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
For those wishing to send an expression of condolence, her family kindly suggests donations toward flowers that later could be planted in her memory around her home.
