Uwe Lloyd Hughes, age 68, of McHenry, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at JourneyCare of Barrington, with his family by his side.
He was born January 20, 1949 in Nordenham, Germany to James R. and Edith Rosa Tina (Sander) Hughes. On August 26, 1970, he married Claudia (Gaspers) in Waukegan.
Formerly a resident of Lake Zurich, Uwe lived in McHenry since 1978. He was employed by Weber Marking Systems in Arlington Heights for over 27 years before retiring in 2011. Uwe was an avid golfer, and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He loved to play pinochle, and enjoyed time he could spend with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Claudia; two children, Jennifer (Jim) Termanas and Ronald (Amanda) Hughes; and four grandchildren, Taylor, JT, Renee and Braylyn.
Uwe was preceded in death by his parents.
The cremation rite was accorded privately. A celebration of Uwe's life will be held at a later date.
His family suggests memorials in Uwe's honor be made to Animal House Shelter Inc., 13005 Ernesti Road, Huntley, IL 60142 or Journey Care Foundation, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025 or online at www.journeycare.org.
